(Macau).- SJM Holdings director Angela Leong On Kei said last week that the announced 3-% limit for gaming table growth after 2013 is “reasonable”. The secretary for economy and finance, Francis Tam Pak Yuen earlier announced that the Macau government would restrict the rate of gaming tables growth to no more than 3 % per year after 2013.

The restrictions will last at least 10 years, Francis Tam Pak Yuen said, until the current gaming concessions expire.

According to Ms Leong, casino operators won’t suffer any major impact from the gaming table growth limit. She stressed however that the question is whether such a limit would be enough to cope with demand.

Ms Leong noted that the government must not forget gaming is Macau’s biggest industry.
