(Nepal).- The casinos run in the country have not renewed their license till the first two months of the running fiscal year. According to the Finance Bill-2068, the management of the casinos or its owners should renew the license by the end of the fiscal year if the owners were willing to run the company for the next fiscal year.

But the fate of the casinos in Nepal have remained undecided after the five-star hotels that got permission to run for the casinos did not renew the licenses till second week of September.

Nepal Recreation Center (NRC) is running for the casinos in the country despite the casinos have not cleared the royalty dues for long. The government has been urging the five-star hotels to take responsibility for running the casinos. In response, the five-star hotels have pledged to run the casinos by finding new management as the hotels lack experience and skilled human resources to do so.

An official at the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation has said that the Ministry will take decision soon in this regard as the casinos were not responsible towards the State. However, Minister for Finance Barsha Man Pun has said that the government will collect revenue from the casinos at any cost. “The companies holding license should pay revenue.”
