This is the fourth edition of the Social Report, which demonstrates the group is socially conscious and that it values integrity and transparent communication with its regulators, stakeholders, and customers.

The group's sustainability strategy focuses on four areas:
Responsible Gaming: Details the Group's policy on sustainability and its Responsible Gaming Program
Economic Sustainability: Explains the models of production and distribution of added value
Social Responsibility: Examines the Group's relationships with regulators, customers, retailers, worldwide communities, and its employees
Environmental Accountability: Communicates the Group's environmental policy and its environmental initiatives
Commitment to responsible gaming
"Gtech's business solutions empower our customers to develop parameters and practices, appropriate to their needs, that become the foundation of their responsible gaming programs," explained Patel.
The firm continually works to strengthen its Responsible Gaming Program in order to protect players and maintain a constructive relationship with regulators and operators. In 2010, the company focused its attention on enhancing player protection and technology security, while educating players about responsible gaming practices.
Through collaboration with organizations such as the World Lottery Association, European Lotteries, and the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries, Gtech has strengthened its global best practices in the areas of age verification standards and technology; self-service terminals that recognize player identification cards; and player registration programs to ensure responsible play.
Social responsibility
Gtech strives to enrich and strengthen the communities in which the Company operates through a variety of programs, sponsorships, and donations. Lottery systems raise revenue for important social causes, and Gtech and its employees are committed to contributing their own time and resources to community and charitable efforts around the world. As a committed corporate neighbor, the firm works closely with community and government leaders to better understand pressing social needs and act accordingly.
Gtech's premier charitable initiative is its After School Advantage program, which provides state-of-the-art technology to educational programs that serve at-risk youth. This program's mission is to help lessen the digital divide for disadvantaged youth who don't have access to computers. During 2010, Gtech installed 18 computer labs through its After School Advantage program, bringing the total to 152 computer labs since the program's inception in 1999.
Environmental Initiatives
In late 2010, Gtech was recommended for ISO 14001:2004 certification of its Environmental Management System (EMS), which is a series of green practices that employees recognize and follow. The firm became one of the first in the lottery industry to receive ISO 14001:2004 certification on January 19, 2011.
Gtech and its employees are dedicated to reducing the company's carbon footprint through an initiative called: Green: A Gtech Pledge. For example: In 2009, Gtech incorporated Energy Saving PC Settings onto desktop computer and, currently, 75% of company computers are using green energy settings.
Gtech’s composting program at its Rhode Island Facilities in Providence, West Greenwich, and Coventry has been a huge success. Since the program's inception in May 2010, Gtech has collected and transferred 9.2 tons of compostable organic material from its buildings. Also, all food containers and utensils at its Rhode Island cafeterias are now compostable.
