(US).- The first of the new Aqueduct casino’s 5,000 gaming machines were delivered to the track last week and will be installed soon in anticipation of the facility’s late October opening. New York Racing Association is slated to get 7 % of gaming revenues; that could be as much as us$ 800 million per year depending on how much business the venue does.

NYRA will use some money to make a long list of capital improvements at Saratoga Race Course. In addition, new gaming revenue is expected to give Saratoga’s purse structure a major boost.

The casino, called Resorts World New York, is being developed by the Malaysia-based Genting Group, a global gaming operator. Resorts World will have 4,525 video lottery terminals and 475 electronic table games such as blackjack. There will be two separate gaming areas on two different floors.

Phase one is expected to open next month with 2,280 VLTs, entertainment and dining. Phase two is scheduled to open by December 31 with 2,245 VLTs, more dining options and event space.

The first gaming machines were expected to start up this spring, but the project has faced delays because of problems - such as asbestos removal - with the old Aqueduct structure.

NYRA President and CEO Charles Hayward said the casino is now expected to start up in late October. “We are in the final stage and are thrilled that Resorts World New York will welcome its guests to an optimum experience,” Resorts World President Michael Speller said in a statement.
