(Thailand).- Thai government ordered the Bangkok Police to close all the casinos, after the scandal provoked by the implication of several agents in the gambling business.

Thai laws ban gaming although bets are quite expanded around the country in ilegal places. It is usual for many Thai citizens to cross the border with Cambodia or Burma (Myanmar), where gaming is allowed.

The Thai Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yubamrung threatened the police forces with bringing the work to another security team if he does not see progress in three days. “I need to see improvements”, affirmed Chalerm. He added that “if neccesary”, he will appoint “the adequate people for the job”.

The politician said that illegal casinos pay every day to the Bangkok metropolitan police between us$ 2,600 and 5,000 to be able to operate.

The government decision arises due to the fact that, last week, six senior-level positions of the police were suspended after being accused in the Parliament by opponent politician Chuvit Kamolvisit of operating the most important casino in Bangkok.
