(US).- IGT announced its continued support of the American Gaming Association's Responsible Gaming Education Week (RGEW), August 1-5. The firm joins with the AGA and casino operators throughout the US to increase awareness about responsible gaming among gaming employees, casino customers and the general public.

"Helping educate and inform players is an essential component of our commitment to responsible gaming. We are pleased to continue our partnership with the AGA on this important annual event," said Patti Hart, IGT CEO.

This year's RGEW theme is 'Know the Odds.' The week-long event will emphasize the importance of knowing how games work by encouraging players to understand the odds of winning and to remember to set a budget prior to any gaming experience. According to the AGA, no matter what casino games people play, they need to remember that they are games of chance and the odds always favor the house.

In support of RGEW, IGT will distribute the AGA brochure, "The House Advantage A Guide to Understanding the Odds," to employees. This educational brochure provides information about the advantage the casino has in various games, debunks some commonly held superstitions, and outlines each game's mathematical probabilities and other factors behind winning and losing.

"When players have information about how the games work, know how to set limits, and understand common gaming misperceptions as well as signs of problem gambling and where to go for help if they get in trouble, they can make informed choices and keep the fun in their gaming experience," said Connie Jones, IGT director of Responsible Gaming.
