(US).- While Illinois politicians continue to fight over just what kind of gambling expansion will be approved for their state, Illinois’ 10th licensed casino has opened in Des Plaines, a suburb of Chicago.

The Rivers Casino developed by Chicago entrepreneur Neil Bluhm, who had unsuccessfully sought a gaming license in Pennsylvania, the property has 4,087 sqm of gaming space. There are 1,050 slot machines and 48 table games in operation.

While attracting customers from Chicago and elsewhere, the property is expected to be very successful, provided a casino isn’t built in Chicago’s downtown, which is the aim of Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
