Total gross gaming revenue at the casinos, which include Churchill Downs. Follow this company 's Harlow's Casino Resort & Hotel, was just more than US$41 million in May, compared with US$101.8 million in April, the Gaming Commission reported. Receipts in April declined from US$115.2 million in March. In May 2010, the casinos had gross revenue of US$107.8 million.

The US$41 million total is the lowest monthly total in the history of the river counties, but Allen Godfrey, deputy director of the Mississippi Gaming Commission, said the situation could have been a lot worse.

“That’s obviously the worst it’s been, but I’ve seen some good crowds when I’ve been there,” Godfrey said. “I’d like to think it’s going to rebound (back to pre-flood conditions).”
