This increment was due to a noticeable increase in the revenue from direct taxes on gaming, up by 46.2 %, to US$ 4.4 billion.

Total public expenditure was US$ 4.39 billion, with an increase of 69.9 % in comparison with the same period from last year.

This rise in government spending was caused by the increase of transfer payments to autonomous agencies, and also due to the payment of the wealth partaking scheme for the year of 2011.

A fiscal surplus of US$ 3.7 billion was recorded in the first five months of 2011, up by 38.4 % year-on-year.
