Gtech expects to receive revenues of approximately us$ 200 million over the five-year extension. It has been providing online lottery products and services to the Georgia Lottery since its inception in 1993.
“Gtech and the Georgia Lottery have had a long and successful partnership for nearly 20 years, and we are eager to use this opportunity to further strengthen our relationship with the Lottery and its retailers over the next several years,” said its President and CEO Jaymin B. Patel. “This contract extension is a testament to the mutual cooperation and commitment of the two organizations to increase lottery sales and funds for education through the deployment of industry-leading solutions and exciting new games.”
“Our contract extension with Gtech provides for new technology and equipment and a high level of service to the Lottery and its customers,” said Georgia Lottery Corporation President and CEO Margaret DeFrancisco. “Given today's economic climate and the need to continue developing new revenue initiatives, the timing of the extension makes good business sense to effectively maximize revenue for the HOPE Scholarship and Pre-K programs in Georgia.”
Over the duration of the five-year extension, Gtech will continue to provide the operation and maintenance of the Georgia Lottery’s online central system, terminals, communications network, and digital advertising displays. It will also continue its marketing consultancy for existing and new online and social space games. As part of the extension, Gtech will replace a portion of the Lottery’s existing terminal base with 4,150 Altura GT1200 lottery terminals. Additional products and services will be provided over the five-year extension period, at the Lottery’s discretion.
Moreover, the extension will allow for an innovative, contemporary player services package through Gtech’s new Renaissance Player Program. A Player Card will facilitate a player loyalty and relationship management system and will enhance corporate social responsibility capabilities, including sophisticated fraud management tools. Through this program, players will have access to a website and Players Club for subscriptions, second chance drawings, favorite number management, and interactive “play for fun” games.
The Georgia Lottery recorded us$ 3.65 billion in total sales in its fiscal year 2010. As one of the top performing and most efficient lotteries in the world, the Georgia Lottery has raised more than us$ 12 billion for the students of Georgia.
