Colombia: Gtech to operate Baloto for five more years

For this new period, Gtech will increase to 10,000 points “VIA” in the country and will deliver 32,32 cents for each peso sold from Baloto, increasing this way the allocations for the health of Colombian citizens.

The points that Etesa in Liquidation considered in order to grant the Baloto operation to Gtech were the experience certificated through contracts in the games of chance sector, of more than us$ 55,581, solid financial indicators as back-up, level of sales offered for Gtech during the 5 years of gaming operation, the number of fixed terminals selling Baloto and incentives to the national industry.

“Gtech remarks the qualities of the tender process that Etesa (in liquidation) and the Nacional Government have performed to grant the Baloto tender process, because it has been serious, responsable and transparent. It is one more step towards the construction of a modern and efficient gaming industry, that assures the growth of the contributions for the health of Colombian citizens”, pointed Álvaro Gómez, president of Gtech Colombia.

Since 2001, the company has generated 20,000 direct and indirect employments and has transferred Etesa in Liquidation more than us$ 259,7 million for health. Users will be able to continue playing Baloto in VIA points, the network of services that currently operates 8,000 terminals in around 420 councils in Colombia, that, on top of games, supplies services of non-banking correspondent, recharge in minutes and payment of public services.  In the development of the contract, the company and the government plan to incluye novelties in gaming to enhance it and increase its impact.
