Mauricio Peña, Deputy Minister, Coordinator of the Production, explained that the casino representatives propose a five-year period to close their businesses, while for the government, a year is enough. “We are aware that casinos require a transitional period”.

Peña informed that one of the alternatives handled is that the government should send the National Assembly a bill that puts into practice the decision of the Popular Consultation. Another alternative is to do it within a Government Decree.

Besides, the Ministry of Tourism, Fredy Ehlers, said that several meetings are being held to determine the future of casino workers. He added that the Ministry of Tourism has no relationship with illegal gambling venues.
