“This will be the first WSOP event in North Carolina, and it will be a premier poker event. It is very exciting to bring the World Series of Poker to North Carolina for the first time,” said Ron Hager, Table Games director at Harrah’s Cherokee.
“We are delivering to our poker players exactly what they have been asking for, big tournaments and the chance to play in the WSOP,” Hager added.
The WSOP event will be held in the new state of the art Cherokee Event Center. It will be home to 20 PokerPro tables offering tournaments and cash games. The week of events is designed to cater to the region’s poker enthusiasts.
Highlights include:
· Friday May 6th with a $550 buy-in multi-day tournament and the final to be played on Sunday May 8th
· Monday May 9th Omaha PL Hi/Lo $120 tournament
· Wednesday May 11th $225 win a Carnival PokerPro Challenge cruise event
· Thursday May 12th No Limit Turbo Hold’em event
· On Friday May 13th – Sunday May 15th a $1,075 buy-in tournament will take place, with the winner receiving a US$ 10,000 WSOP main event seat along with cash prize.
This tournament will be played on the latest PokerPro tournament software. PokerPro version 3.0 gives players complete visibility of their tournament standings and chip stacks on the new tournament leader board and on individual player screens.
