The scheme will go ahead if Solihull Council grants a large casino licence and give planning permission for the development.

No decision is expected on the licence until May's local elections have taken place, with a planning application due to be submitted in the wake of it

The 55,000 square metre facility would include a casino, hotel, spa, banqueting and conference centre, multi screen cinema, retail units, bars and restaurants.

If approved it is hoped the new complex, which would be situated between the LG Arena and the Crowne Plaza Hotel and overlook Pendigo Lake, could be up and running as early as 2013.
