The opening day brought together various stakeholders as Fernando Castelló Boronat, President of Tribunal de Defensa de la Competencia de la Comunitat Valenciana, who stressed the need for government intervention to reduce the risks inherent in this activity, allowing, at the same time, the minimum distortion of competition.
Professor of Political Science and Administration, University of Valencia, Pablo Oñate Rubalcaba, also took part in the event, who discussed the importance of public policies to channel social interests.
In addition, José Antonio Martínez Sampedro, Codere Group President, highlighted the great opportunity for the Foundation to make this conference, which provides knowledge and reflection to the debate on gambling in Spain, and that affects the general interest.
The meeting also portrayed various aspects of the fiscal and criminal regime of the new regulations through various presentations and panel discussion "Online gaming and gambling sectors" moderated by Rafael Catalá Polo, Codere´s General Secretary, which had the participation of major industry associations: CEJ (Spanish Confederation of Bingo Businessmen Organizations), EUROMAT (European Gaming and Amusement Federation), AECJ (Spanish Casinos Association) and AEDAPI (Spanish Association of Internet Bettors).
The Government's role in the development of the new law was discussed during the round table "Synergies and partnerships: public commitments" moderated by Ángeles González García, General Technique Secretary of the Ministry of Interior. It included representatives of the Administration of the Autonomous Communities of Valencia, the Basque Country, Madrid, Catalonia and La Rioja.
