Konami supports American Red Cross relief activities in Japan

(US).- Konami is supporting American Red Cross relief activities to benefit the millions of people impacted by the magnitude 9.0 earthquake and subsequent tsunami that struck eastern Japan last Friday.

This natural disaster left thousands unaccounted for and has sent more than 400,000 evacuees to relief centers in search of food, water and shelter.

 

“All of us at Konami are deeply saddened by the devastation resulting from the earthquake and tsunami in Japan," said Satoshi Sakamoto, CEO of Konami. "The scale of this tragedy is massive, and the need for humanitarian relief is great. We are very thankful for all of the support and concern we have received from the gaming community.”

 

The firm manufacturing operations for its gaming and systems business, which is based in Las Vegas and services the North American, South American and European markets, have not been impacted by the disaster.

 

Likewise, Konami Australia, which is based in Australia and services the Australian, Asian and African markets, has not been impacted, as its manufacturing operations are located in Botany, Australia. As with many of the gaming industry manufacturers, Konami Gaming,. is validating its supply chain for those suppliers whose manufacturing and distribution facilities are located in Japan.
