Virtual casino operators have disagreed with this kind of measure because of the high fixed cost for operating licenses, with wich small companies would be forced to stay out of businesses. With this model, only big firms with much higher financial resources could succeed.
Big players such as 888 have stated their positions on the high cost of licenses, considering equally exaggerated. A study has shown that this type of regulation could generate to the Dutch government about 10 million Euros in license revenue, with total revenues estimated at 250 million Euros during the first year.
However, this numbers can result quite high as estimated, and operators may be discouraged to participate in the Dutch gambling market because of cost.
Because of this, virtual casino operators may begin to choose among different markets to select only those with more options to get benefits, what means bad news for the Dutch gaming industry.
