In 2010, the economic recession still affected Grand Casino Helsinki and casino games in clubs, which did not reach their target profit. Ray’s own arcades reached their target profit of US$ 125 million. The Internet gaming operations started at the beginning of November turned a profit of US$ 3.2 million in one month.

Profit for the period was US$ 522 million, with a growth of US$ 521 million from the previous year. The profit’s share of the turnover (gaming revenue – lottery duty = revenue) decreased 1.1 percentage points from the previous year and came up to 61.7%.

Operating costs increased by 5.3%. Growth was generated by general wage and cost trends, start-up costs of the Internet gaming operations, arcade and club casino game operation streamlining, as well as customer ship operations development costs.

Profits to promote health and welfare.

Ray’s entire proceeds are used for supporting health and social welfare organizations as well as for the benefit of Finnish war veterans.

The Government decided on February 3rd that 781 health and social welfare organizations will receive funds this year of US$ 366 million from Ray’s 2010 proceeds towards 1.587 causes. Additionally, the State Treasury shall receive US$ 135.734 for the rehabilitation of war veterans and to cover operating costs in nursing homes for disabled veterans. Of the gaming operations’ proceeds, a total of US$ 501 million will be used for Finnish welfare.
