Hawaii: Budget deficit could prompt rethink on gambling

(Hawaii).- Legalized gambling may be back on Hawaii's legislative table now that former Governor Linda Lingle has departed and the budget deficit has swollen, according to a KITV report.

The first question being raised is whether Hawaii should join the multi-state lottery, the report said. Another consideration is to allow a legalized casino, polls show that most Hawaii residents support some limited gaming for the state, WITV reported.

Hawaii is one of only two US states which have a gambling ban in place, the report made note.
