Miami Beach commissioners say no to Vegas-style casinos

The state Senate committee overseeing gambling is discussing a proposal that would expand gambling in Florida and potentially bring in hundreds of millions of dollars to the state. And Governor Rick Scott has said he would be open to allowing Las Vegas-style casino resorts if supported by local voter referendum.

Miami Beach has been mentioned as a possible casino destination. “If this happens, our entire city will change,”' Commissioner Ed Tobin said.
