With that aim, Brussels will propose to celebrate a conference with the participation of the actors affected “to discuss and decide which is the most appropriate action”. The commissioner has also anticipated that the Commissioner of the Internal Market, Michel Barnier, “is already working” in a proposal with the aim to regulate “online betting”.
Anyway, the Commission expects to debate “in the following months” these proposals with Member States and with the different sporting actors affected. The commissioner believes that the Third European Sports Forum, to take place in Hungary in February 21-23, just before the informal meeting of Sports Ministries in the EU, is a “very good opportunity” to exchange the first opinions with the sector.
