Singapore says no to casinos advertising jackpots

(Singapore).- The Singaporean government is taking steps to stop casinos from publicising won jackpots. They say that, as they do not advertise players’ losses, they should not advertise winnings either.

“You will find that they never publicise the losses and the consequences of those losses on the gamblers and their families,” Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports Vivian Balakrishan said, quoted by Today Online.

He added that such practice is “asymmetric and unfair publicity”.

For now, there is no timeline for a ban on jackpots publicising in Singapore. In Macau, there are no rules against such a practice.
