The controversial online casino was originally to have started operations in late August. However, shortly before the planned launch, officials made a number of demands for new features limiting the amount of money that a person can spend on the site. “The most difficult to implement are the various limitations placed on different categories of games,” Hyttinen says.
For instance, online slot machines and various table games such as roulette and blackjack are to have a limit of 500 euros a day per player. However, no such limits are put on games in which players play each other, unless the players set the limits themselves.
Hyttinen adds that the limits imposed by officials did not come as a disappointment to RAY. He notes that a limit of 500 euros does not affect the gaming habits of normal users. However, those who gamble only occasionally, with high stakes, it could cause problems.
RAY has also acquired the world’s most advanced “responsibility tool” in online gaming. The tool monitors the player’s gaming habits and points out any sudden increases in the amount of money spent.
The association has a monopoly on slot machine and casino gaming in Finland. Its proceeds are distributed to various organisations promoting health, culture and sports.
