Osaka Governor Hashimoto repeats call for casino in Osaka

(Japan).- Osaka Governor Toru Hashimoto reiterated his call Saturday for building a casino in the western Japanese prefecture, saying it would be able to make us$ 1.6 billion. He said in a speech in Osaka that the casino would obviate the need to raise taxes and that all the proceeds should be used to fund social welfare programs.

 

Legalizing casinos in Japan has been proposed by some political and business leaders who believe casinos will bring in money from abroad and help stimulate the nation’s economy.
