Detroit's three casinos see revenues jump in March

(US).- Both MotorCity Casino Hotel and Greektown Casino-Hotel reported double-digit increases in revenue from February to March. MGM Grand Detroit Casino, the largest of the city's gaming arenas, saw high single-digit growth.

Revenues at MotorCity rose 12.9 %, to us$ 41.23 million from us$ 36.51 million in February. MGM saw monthly revenues climb 8.1 %, to us$ 52.55 million from us$ 48.62 million.

Greektown reported its best-ever month since the casino opened in 2000. March revenues rose 12.3 % - to us$ 33.48 million - from us$ 29.81 million in February. The casino chalked the results up to new management, more direct mail to frequent and potential customers and cosmetic changes to the gaming hall.

The stellar March follows the casinos' first-ever annual revenue decline in 2009. Together, they reported us$ 1.34 billion in revenue, down 1.48 % from 2008.
