Samoa government proposes legislation to operate casinos

(Samoa).- The Samoa government has decided to introduce proposed legislation to allow the operation of casinos despite opposition.

Critics say the operation of casinos would attract tourists but will adversely affect those on low incomes.

The Casino and Gambling control bill 2010 is to be tabled in Parliament today.

However, the opposition MPs say they will strongly oppose the proposed legislation when it will be debated in the house.
