The final event will be held in May in Argentina. The team formed by people classified from each country will travel together with a member of the PokerStars Pro Team with all expenses paid, to compete for the title of “Champion of America”.
The first edition of America’s Cup of Poker was held in September 2009 in the city of Bariloche. In that opportunity, and after a very tough final between Brazil and Argentina, Brazil was Championship of America.
From March 15 until April 14, 2010 the classifying rounds are being held in PokerStars.net, where they will be able to play directly freeroll tournaments and add points for each team. All the countries will compete in a series of weekly rounds and eight countries will play the great final live.
The six countries with more points will be directly classified, while the remaining four countries will play a wild-card game to obtain the last two places for the final, that will be broadcast live. Each team will be comprised by a Team PokerStars Pro and the four players that achieved the greatest number of points for their teams during the classifying rounds.
