The Fdjeux site has long featured a variety of built-in constraints, including a 3,000 euros monthly ceiling on player accounts and a 500 euros weekly wager ceiling for scratch games. Players can also choose to lower these ceilings, or even to have themselves barred from playing, either temporarily or permanently.
Additionally, players can now sign up, free of charge and on a voluntary basis, for the Playscan service, which covers draws and scratch games on Fdjeux.com as well as sports betting on ParionsWeb.fr. Each week, the Playscan software analyses the number of wagers, the amounts bet, the amounts of winnings recycled as bets, and the durations of gaming sessions.
Playscan then provides players with information and advice, using a 'traffic light' system: Green: recreational gaming. Amber: intensive gaming. Red: excessive gaming.
When a player gets an amber light, he or she is reminded that the built-in constraints can be reconfigured to take account of his or her particular gaming habits. When a red light is obtained, the same occurs. In addition, La Française des Jeux refrains from sending further offers to the player concerned, and suggests that he or she get in touch with 'SOS Joueurs', an association that provides assistance to problem gamblers.
Playscan also gives players an opportunity to complete a self-assessment questionnaire based on the scientifically-approved Canadian Problem Gambling Index. This gives the player a better understanding of his gaming behaviour, and allows further enhancement of the software’s analysis performance.
