Atlantic City casino revenue declines 8.5 % in January

(US).- Casinos won us$ 294.2 million from gamblers in January, representing an 8.5 % decline from the same period last year and the 17th month in a row that revenue has fallen.

Slot revenue was down 7.6 % to us$ 195.5 million and winnings from table games were off 10.1 % to us$ 98.7 million, according to figures released today by the New Jersey Casino Control Commission.

Casinos have not had a monthly increase in revenue since August 2008. The latest figures indicate that the weak economy and competition from Pennsylvania's slot parlors continue to batter Atlantic City.
