Bill would bring riverboat casinos inland in Indiana
(US).- An Indiana Senate committee plans to consider legislation that would allow riverboat casinos on Lake Michigan and the Ohio River to relocate inland. The Senate Appropriations Committee plans to take testimony on the bill Thursday.

Proponents say inland locations could improve business at the casinos and help them stave off new competition or possible gambling expansions in other states. Riverboat casinos that move inland would have to pay the state a us$ 50 million fee.
But that fee would be waived for one of two Gary riverboats if it moves inland. That's because the license for the other Gary casino would be returned to the Indiana Gaming Commission.
