The survey was commissioned by high-tech industry group Bitkom and found that the Lotto was the most popular game as it was played by 59 % of online gamblers followed by poker with 22 % and sportsbetting at 18 %.
The research found that the Lotto is especially popular with women as 64 % of female online gamblers revealed that they take part using the Internet as compared to only 57 % of men. Regarding spend, two-thirds of those surveyed stated that they indulged less than 20 euros per month while the remaining one-quarter revealed that they regularly spent more.
