"We have been unswervingly implementing the principle of 'one country, two systems", under which the Macao people govern Macao with a high degree of autonomy, and the Basic Law of the SAR." He vowed to "actively promote the diversified development at an appropriate level."
While enhancing regulation on the gaming industry, Macau will also put emphasis on convention, exhibition, logistics, cultural and creative industries and the upgrade and transformation of the traditional industries, Chui said. He added that his government will try its best to improve Macao people's life. "We will widely collect public opinions and try our best to know what they need."
Macau will continue to optimize the allocation of government's resources on medical care facilities and education. Administrative management will be enhanced; importance will be attached to social consultation and building of a clean government; the officials' accountability system will be improved; and a fiscal reserve system will be built, he said.
"I am deeply aware that the road ahead will not be flat, but the new administration will meet difficulties head-on," Chui said. The chief executive said for years the motherland has always been a strong backing to the maintenance of Macau's prosperity and stability.
He expressed gratitude to the central government for the conferment of a pair of pandas to the SAR and said he believed all Macao citizens thank the warmth of the people in the mainland.
