Brazil: Business continue actions in favour of bingo legislation

There were promises that the proposal could be treated in November 24-26, however, it still does not count with a model this week. That’s why legislators in favour of the proposal together with representatives of the sector will take actions in order to try to include it in the current sessions of the Plenary.

In case they do not succeed, there will try once more, in order to, at least, guarantee the model for the project in a recess in the votation of the projects of the pre-sal (5938/09, 5939/09, 5940/09 and 5941/09) or during the effort of the Chamber. In this period, the parliament vites several subjects to conclude the votation guidelines before the holiday at the end of the year.

One of the greatest difficulties to include the bingo bill in the guidelines of the Plenary are the controversial projects that are being arranged at this moment. On top of the pre-sal, there is an impass of the Retirement Project (parties of the opposition will continue with the obstruction in the votation), PECs (Proposal of Amendment of the Constitution) of Records, Food, among others.

President of the Chamber of Representatives, Michel Temer, said that the definition of the subjects to be voted by the Plenary will depend on the evaluation to be performed at the end of each ordinary session.

Sales da Silveira commented that it expects the release of the guideline of votations of the Plenary of the Chamber in the following two weeks and said: “In spite of the controversial projects that deputies will have to consider at the end of the year, we have great expectations and chances that the bingo bill will also be voted this year.”
