Cirsa plans for the rather old-fashioned Monte Picayo casino are not clear, but there are two options: to knock it down or to restore it. In any case, the most probable future use will be the hotel. The project, however, will be developed from 2012, when, according to the most realistic previsions, the economic crisis will conclude.

The Architect that has designed the casino and leads the refurbishments, José María Lozano, said that Valencia will be the first sustainable casino in the country. The architect has planned the installation of solar panels that will provide energy to the building and will suppose an energetic save of among a 30 to 60% of efficiency. “It will be beyond the minimums required by state legislation”.

The environmental aspect has also been planned in the construction of the building, because the materials were brought from a radio of no more than 100 km so the expense in transportation and fuel was minimal. Lozano is also working in the hydro efficiency of the building so the water of the air-conditioned is used –previous a disinfection treatment- so it could be used as sanitary hot water.

Lozano said that Valencia will be the first casino with a new plant built by Cirsa, one of the most powerful companies in the gaming sector.
