It was announced by the President of Iberoamerican Corporation of Lotteries and Bets of the State (CIBELAE), Salvadorean Juan Pablo Durán, and the General Secretary of the entity, Spanish Gonzalo Fernández.
Fernández explained that the Spanish public entity State Lotteries and Bets (LAE), of which he is the general director, is having conversations with other Latin American countries, among them, El Salvador, to operate the game in a joint venture.
In Chile, they are studying to implement the model of popular “La Primitiva” jackpot at a regional level. This jackpot is organized in Spain every Sunday and the price of each participation is of 1,5 euros.
The game consists of choosing five numbers, from 1 to 54, and another number from 0 to 9, called key number, and in order to achieve a top-level prize, players must guess correctly the five numbers of the winning combination plus the key number.
This initiative is similar to well-known Euromillones, which, since its implementation in 2004, has delivered huge quantities of money, which the participation of Austria, Belgium, Spain, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal, United Kingmen and Switzerland.
Fernández assures that "It is too soon to talk about deadlines" in the implementation of the game, because some countries have to modify their legislation before, and implement technical systems that are compatible with their operation, but estimates that the first experience could be seen "within 2010".
Durá and Fernández participated of the XII Assembly of CIBELAE and it the Annual Congress of the World Lottery Association (WLA), that were held yesterday in Santiago, with the assistance of more than 300 delegates.
