Second slot gambling license awarded in Maryland

The slot facility will be the twentieth in North America for the company. They are also looking into purchasing the bankrupt Fontainebleau project in Las Vegas, Nevada, along with several other possible acquisitions around the US.

The planned opening for the new casino in Maryland is in the latter part of 2010. Construction will begin on the site by the end of the year, and it will provide many temporary and permanent casino jobs.

"The casino expansion in the Northeast has been fast and furious over the past several years and it shows no signs that this will be the end," said Casino Gaming Analyst Steve Schwartz, "The more the competition grows, the more that states will expand their casino offerings."

Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Maryland have all expanded their casino gambling options. Massachusetts is also considering legalizing casino gambling. Before long, most of the states in the Northeast could all have varying forms of legalized casino gambling.

In Pennsylvania, they have taken the next step and are moving towards table game gambling. Connecticut casinos have teamed up in recent months to topple Atlantic City as the top gaming destination in the Eastern US. New York lawmakers have also discussed the possibility of table games at their casinos.
