Macau: Baccarat generates 87 % of gaming revenues
According to the bureau, of the us$ 10.5 million registered in local casinos between January and September of this year, 87 % or us$ 9.2 million were the result of the activity registered on the baccarat tables.
Besides being the most popular game in the Macau casinos, baccarat at VIP or high rollers tables contributed with 65 % of the total revenue recorded in the casinos.
Next to baccarat, the main source of revenue for casinos in Macau is the gaming machines or slot machines, which collected us$ 585,913, 5 % of total gross gaming revenues.
With 35 % of direct taxes and about 4 % of indirect taxes on gambling, the industry is the main source of revenue for the administration and is expected, despite the crisis, a slight increase this year, regarding the record us$ 9.109,8 million established in last year.
The gaming sector also includes revenue from lotteries, football and basketball betting, horse racing and greyhound bets contributed with about us$ 89.1 million to the global gaming revenues.
