Romania feels effects of legislation
Speaking at the Forbes show in September, Romania manager Roland Andrysek told InterGame: "We were surprised by the positive reaction to our products at the show and we even found some new customers. I think there might have been a slight over-reaction to the new gaming law when it was initially announced.”
"We went to the show with no expectations at all and there was a definite feeling of nervousness in the market (a third of exhibitors pulled out of the show last minute) but the level of interest was still positive for us," Andrysek added.
For Andrysek, there is still potential in Romania for a successful gaming market but the problem is that the number of machines has risen from around 38,000 to 57,000 very quickly and under the new rules all these machines need to be passed.
It is thought 30 per cent of operators stopped trading with the announcement of the new legislation.
