This truly European tournament saw 120 participants from Austria, Belgium, Italy, Czech Republic, Slovenia and Germany. The tournament champion was Dennis Jensen from the Grand Casino Brussels.
Many participants arrived a day early to enjoy the splendid weather and the cultural, culinary and sporty activities. There are over twenty golf courses of varying difficulties within an hour’s drive and thus this region makes any golf player’s heart beat faster. The visitors for whom golf is not quite their cup of tea were offered a great variety of possibilities, for example, in health and wellness.
The town of Franzensbad has a rich history, continually drawing major personalities since the spas were inaugurated by the then empire Franz I. of Austria. The town has been wonderfully restored and is a real Czech jewel. It is therefore fitting that the major Czech Casino Group – INGO Casinos – has its headquarters here.
Club manager Manfred Maximilian Bittermann opened the tournament at 08:30 in the morning and every ten minutes it was the turn of four players to begin the demanding 18-hole course. A relaxing and challenging day thus began for the players – who could enjoy culinary breaks throughout the day.
The golfing day was rounded off with a barbecue in the evening on the patio of the main room with a wonderful view of the spa gardens. Many guests stayed on until late at the casino bar, following the tournament motto: “play, relax and enjoy”.
