Galic had made it to the final table of the main event at the CAPT Bregenz and CAPT Salzburg. In Bregenz he came in fifth, and in Salzburg he came that close to winning, but had to content himself with second place. Now he is going home with 50,690 euros.
Marmorstein won 36,710 euros, while Kurtz was delighted about 26,220 euros. Among the ten finalists at the final table of the 2,000 euros Texas Hold’em game only Hans Kubitschka was there to defend Austria’s poker honour (8th place). He shared the field with Germany, Croatia, Switzerland and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
“Of course we are pleased that so many participants came from abroad. It shows that the top-notch organisation, scheduling and service at the tournaments are known and appreciated beyond Austria’s borders,” Casinos Austria Poker Manager Edgar Stuchly says with respect to the international resonance of the CAPT. 300 poker players from ten nations played for more than 300,000 euros in prize money in the CAPT Week at Casino Graz.
It will get even more international at the CAPT climax, the European Poker Championship at Grand Casino Baden from 6 to 15 October 2009. The European Poker Championship is taking place this year for the 20th time. The satellites for the European Poker Championship in Texas Hold’em are already underway.
The first preliminaries are already finished; those who act fast can buy their way into a satellite final for 500 euros. On 5 September the tickets for the European Poker Championship in Texas Hold’em will be played for in the Baden, Salzburg and Seefeld casinos and on 6 September in Bregenz, Graz, Linz, Innsbruck, Kitzbühel, Velden and Vienna. A participant receives a ticket for every 4000 euros in the prize pool.
