Two are competing for the casino in Wyandotte County, while three have filed proposals for Sumner County, south of Wichita.

The commission will decide how many proposals to forward to a casino review board, which will pick one for each county. The Lottery will own the new gambling under the 2007 law authorizing the casinos.

In Wyandotte County, a partnership involving Kansas Speedway is competing with Penn National Gaming Inc., of Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. The Sumner County proposals involve Lakes Entertainment Inc., of Minnetonka, Minnesota.
