The regional government adapts the games of chance norm to the rest of Spain

New gaming law approved in Madrid

(Spain).- Madrid Council has approved the Rules of Recreational and Games of Chance Machines, after studying and including the recommendations made by the Consultative Council and the Consumption Council of the region.

This norm adapts to most of the autonomous communities in Spain, facilitating the renovation and modernization of the current machine fleet. This way, it contribuyes to reactivate a sector of the Madrid economy that is passing through great dificultéis due to the financial crisis and greater savings of the families. This will be achieved including measures to boost different activities of the gaming companies, as it also makes profress on the homologation of the laws with most of the regions.

This way, manufacturers will not have to design different machines depending on the province in which they are located. However, there will be restrictions to the homologation or inscription of models when they use images, messages or objects that may harm children or youngsters; vulnerate, direct or indirectly, the dignity of the persons and the fundamental rights and liberties, or those that may cause violence, racism or any kind of discrimination, as well as criminal activities.

The regulation abolishes the previous administrative authorization for the operation of recreational machines, so, from now on, it will only be necessary the communicate the beginning of the activity, and the administration just limits to exert a further control.

Besides, this norm establishes that the maximum price per game will be one euro and a minimum of 0.20 euro. Another novelty is that the machines may have video, which could include up to five games in it.

Besides, a new model called B 3, is created. It is based in bingo game, and allows to interconnect with other machines of the same or other venues. They will cost between 6,000 to 18,000 euros. Those that bring the best prizes will be used for gambling venues, bingo halls and casinos, while those that bring cash prizes of no less than 240 euros (B 1) will be able to install in hotels, too.
