AGEM announces us$ 100,000 in contributions to assist problem gamblers

The contributions build on AGEM’s long-standing support of organizations dedicated to the issue of problem gambling.

Founded in 1972, the National Council on Problem Gambling is the national advocate for programs and services to assist problem gamblers and their families. The mission of the NCPG is to increase public awareness of pathological gambling, ensure the widespread availability of treatment for problem gamblers and their families, and to encourage research and programs for prevention and education.

The NCPG, the largest and oldest problem gambling advocacy organization in North America was conceived as the national representative of the problem gambling field and is organized with 3 classes of members: state affiliate, corporate and individual. The NCPG concentrates efforts on the national level, while the state affiliates work at the state and local level. Through this organization AGEM provides funding for the National Problem Gambling Helpline, the Annual National Conference on Problem Gambling and support of 35 state affiliates.

The International Problem Gambling Center (PGC) has more than 20 years of experience in the treatment and research of problem gambling. Its staff members have helped design the national certification program for problem gambling treatment professionals, as well as lecture and train worldwide. Headed by founder and Clinical Director Dr. Rob Hunter, the PGC is devoted to helping problem gamblers regardless of their financial situation and has vowed from day one never to turn anyone away because of a lack of funds.
