Loto Real launches new online lottery system in Dominican Republic

(Dominican Republic).- Dominican Republic lottery operator, Loto Real Del Cibao C.X.A. (Loto Real), successfully completed its first-ever online lottery ticket transaction last June 19, powered by Gtech Corporation’s advanced Enterprise Series system solution.

Gtech was selected in August 2008 as the exclusive technology and services provider to Loto Real under a 20-year contract. Gtech, along with representatives from Loto Real’s Board of Directors and local dignitaries, including the Governor of the Province of Santiago, welcomed guests and introduced the new lottery to the general public during a ceremony held in the city of Santiago de los Caballeros on June 19, 2009.

With cutting-edge technology, tireless customer service, and best practices and business development consultancy, the firm will position Loto Realc as the premier lottery operator in the Dominican Republic,” said Senior Vice President of Gtech Americas, Alan Eland.

“Gtech’s technological capabilities, systems experience, and their strategic vision throughout this implementation were key in helping Loto Real deliver a first-class lottery to the citizens of the Dominican Republic,” said President of Loto Real, Jose Bernardo Guzman.

With an initial prize of us$ 422,726, the new lottery features an exciting family of online games including Loto Real, a 6/39 matrix game that awards prizes to winners who match at least 3 numbers, Pega 4 Real, a “Pick 4” style-game, as well as a group of games already seen in the Dominican Republic, including Quiniela Real, Palé Real, Tripleta Millonaria Real and Súper Palé Real.

By the end of the year, Gtech expects to have 1,000 Altura terminals delivered to Loto Real’s retailer network, Agente Real, with 750 already installed. It will distribute the terminals to retailers in provinces throughout the country including, Santo Domingo, Santiago, La Vega, Puerto Plata, San Francisco de Macorís, La Romana, Higüey and the National District.
