Originally conceived as a thank you to the local gaming industry for supporting GLI, the event was expanded into a fundraiser for Ivory Park Secondary School in Midrand.
Created in 2002, Ivory Park Secondary School is situated in an informal settlement of Ivory Park between Tembisa Township and Ebony Park suburban next to Midrand’s fast growing urban and industrial area. GLI Africa presented the school’s principal, Edith Mamosebo, with a cheque for us$ 3,759 at a ceremony after the golf tournament.
Speaking for GLI Africa, Managing Director Thiran Marimuthu said, “It is overwhelming to see the support we have received for our event. We know and understand that this is only possible with the support of South African Gaming Industry, which has stood by GLI Africa over the years.”
He continued, “A heartfelt thank you to all our sponsors for donated prizes and cash contributions. We wish to thank all our guests who made this event a memorable fun filled one and an amazing success.”
