Taiwan-based online game companies are also making preparations to welcome their mainland counterparts. For example, Soft-World International Corporation plans to enhance its R&D to meet the upcoming challenge. In recent years, mainland companies began licensing Taiwan counterparts to operate their proprietary online games. There were only a few investment cases between both sides.

Last year, Beijing Perfect World Co., Ltd. inked two agreements with InterServ, a Taiwan game developer, to acquire the copyrights of two games and two R&D center respectively situated in Shanghai and Chengdu from the latter.

Earlier, Wayi International Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. sold its mainland assets to Kingsoft Corporation Limited. Years ago, Shi Yuzhu, board chairman and CEO of Giant Interactive Group Inc., injected cash into an overseas subsidiary of Lager Network Technologies Inc.
