Mexico: Televisa to invest us$ 35 million in the gaming business

The us$ 35 million that the firm will allocate to gaming represent a 7% of the total of the program of resources that the group will use in all its operations, according to the Mexican newspaper El Universal. In 2008, the company spent us$ 39,6 million for games and draws, according to its annual report.

The firm assured that that it keeps optimistic regarding the attraction of this segment, so it will explore ways in which the business will grow in a profitable way. Televisa said that, at the end of 2008, it was owner and operated 21 PlayCity bingo halls that offer traditional bingo, online bingo machines and sportsbooks.

With the aim to bring more customers and improve the profitability of the business, the company decided to attract more providers of bingo electronic machines and also made changes in the size of the establisments.

This and other measures made the customers grow a 66% in games and draws during 2008”, pointed the company, Incomes of the company for this business are increasing, because in the first quarter of this year it grew a 32% compared to the same period in 2008.

Televisa started operating in the business in 2006. The original project involves the installation and operation of 65 venues with electronic terminals for draws with numbers in the country, a goal set for 2013.
