Providence-based GTech won the contract with La Loterie Nationale following a competitive procurement process and will install its latest ES New Media solution in a multi-phased implementation.
GTech is a subsidiary of giant Italian lottery and gaming operator Lottomatica SpA and won a similar deal last month with Switzerland’s Societe De La Loterie De La Suisse Romande. It described its ES New Media solution is an ‘end-to-end eCommerce’ system that ‘positions lotteries for the future direction of interactive channels’.
“La Loterie Nationale understands the needs of its players and offering them the added convenience of purchasing lottery tickets through ‘new media’ channels such as the Internet,” said Jaymin Patel, President and Chief Executive Officer for GTech.
“We look forward to assisting the lottery in providing an interactive solution that opens up additional sales channels to extend lottery games to a new audience of mobile players.”
GTech revealed that its ES New Media solution would deploy traditional lottery-style games such as EuroMillions and Keno alongside instant titles with the capability of introducing other interactive games over time. Initially launching on the Internet, the Rhode Island firm stated that its system will allow for the expansion of services across interactive television and mobile channels.
“This is a completely new challenge and opportunity to enter into a market segment we have been absent from until now,” said Ivan Pittevils, CEO for La Loterie Nationale. “We are confident this will open up a whole new way of doing business with new clients and, thus, will expand our commercial potential and our profitability in a socially responsible way.”
