G2E Asia 2009 began yesterday with a full day of conference sessions and will continue through tomorrow, June 4, with conference and trade show events at the Cotai Strip CotaiExpo at the Venetian Macao.

“Without Stanley Ho, the Asian gaming industry would not be what it is today. He has been a driving force behind the tremendous growth and prosperity of Macau as a leader of the gaming industry here, and through his community involvement and contributions,” said Frank J. Fahrenkopf, Jr., president and CEO of the American Gaming Association. “His lifetime of achievement and success in the industry make him a natural fit for this honor, so we are incredibly pleased to recognize him today with the 2009 G2E Asia Visionary Award.”

Stanley Ho, founder of the Sociedade de Turismo e Diversões de Macau S.A. and managing director of Sociedade de Jogos de Macau S.A, offered a brief keynote address to attendees before helping G2E organizers open the trade show floor.

The trade show at G2E Asia 2009 features more than 130 companies from 20 countries – including 30 % new exhibitors from last year – showcasing their cutting-edge products and services. Despite the current economic climate, exhibitors at G2E Asia’s trade show report a high percentage of the attendees visiting their booths are key decision-makers regarding new product purchasing.

“We always look forward to G2E Asia because it allows us to expand knowledge of our products among key decision-makers at our customer organizations,” said John Gomes, managing director of IGT Asia, an exhibitor at this year’s show. “We are very pleased with the quality of attendees at this year’s event”
