The amendment commences in July 2009 and extends the existing contract to 2013.

In fiscal year 2008, the California Lottery produced us$ 3 billion in lottery sales, over half of which was generated by instant tickets, and returned us$ 1.1 billion to education. Since inception in 1985, the California Lottery has raised more than us$ 20 billion to fund specific education programs.
